PROJECTS WE SUPPORT

The Guatemala Art and Culture Connection donates some of the proceeds from the sales to help to support youth art and educational programs in San Pedro and other communities. We also directly support several youth to pursue their education and careers.

Buenos Vecinos (Good Neighbors) is a program that partners with communities in Guatemala and Honduras to help improve and build schools. You can find out more about Buenos Vecinos at: http://buenosvecinos.org/about-honduras/

Creando Mi Futuro (Creating My Future) is and after school art program that serves youth from mostly single mother households or whose fathers are  afflicted with alcohol or drug addiction. There is no support in Guatemala for single mothers and they are often ostracized and struggle with poverty. Humberto Cortez Gonzalez is an aspiring young art student. He is an alum of the Creando Mi Futuro program and currently is an art instructor there. He also has taught art at Colegio Holandaise in San Pedro. He recently enrolled in the University in Guatemala city to study art but had to pause his studies to return to San Pedro to help his mother who became infirm. We have been helping Humberto by purchasing his paintings and contributing to his college fund so that he can return to his studies at the University.
